ELC Week of the Young Child and OPEN HOUSE!

LCA’s Early Learning Center will be celebrating the Week of the Young Child April 16-20! We encourage you to take the time to see what these 2-5 year olds have been able to learn at such a young age! Enjoy the art they have created explaining creation displayed outside their facility on Main Street! Do you know a prospective family whose child could benefit from the ELC? Invite them to our Open House on Tuesday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided!

 

LCA Summer Care and Summer Camps!

What will your child be doing this summer? LCA Summer Care registration is now open! This interactive and educational program is being offered for children ages 2 through 5th grade! LCA also offers summer camps for all grades! Check out all the summer camps offered online!

 

Freedom424

Run for their lives! Use code “424BULLDOG” and only pay $20 to race at the Freedom424 race on April 28! Go online to sign up!

 

LCA Spring Book Fair at Barnes and Noble, Wards Road.

 The LCA Library will be hosting our spring book fair at Barnes and Noble on Wards Road from April 16 through April 22. Patrons must give the LCA Book fair ID #12352191 to the cashier at the time of sale. All items purchased in the store, including the Café will earn us a percentage with the ID#. You may also purchase online or at any other Barnes and Noble location (excluding college campus locations). Barnes and Noble Membership and Educator’s Discounts can be applied to purchases.

 

Special LCA Events at Barnes and Noble:

Please note: Parents must remain with their children during all special events.

 

·      Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 6-8 p.m. “I Spy a Librarian”

Find Mrs. White or Mrs. Bozzo in the store while you are shopping and receive a prize!

·      Thursday-Reading Contract Night. 6-8 p.m.- Buy or bring a book to read at the store, earn minutes toward your weekly reading contract with by Mrs. Bozzo and Mrs. White!

·      Friday-Scrabble Night 6-8 p.m. Let’s see how many words we can make! Prizes for the longest word and the word earning the most points!

·      Saturday-11-2 p.m. Story Time. Come hear a fun story read by Mrs. White and Mrs. Bozzo while Mom and Dad shop.

·      Sunday-1-3 p.m. Selfie Scavenger Hunt. Take a picture with all items on the list while you shop and earn a prize!

 

Also: students who bring a Barnes and Noble receipt to the library dated during the week of the book fair, AND showing our Book Fair ID#, will be invited to participate in the following events:

            Friday, April 27th Wear your favorite sports team shirt to school (grades 1-5)

            Friday April 27th Bring your favorite stuffed animal to school (kindergarten)

            Monday, May 1st Bulldog Apparel and Jeans Day (grades 6-8)

 

School Positive Incentive Celebration

 Middle School will be holding its yearly positive incentive celebration next Thursday, April 19, during chapel time. Each year, we take time to recognize our students for positive behavior, school attendance, etc. Students with no discipline, less than five tardies, and have perfect attendance can have their names drawn for prizes such as gift cards, bulldog apparel, and more. We have already received over 400 items from local businesses who are partnering with us. If you have a business and would be interested in partnering with us to recognize our students, please contact the middle school office at 592-5498. Our sponsors will be recognized at the event and will also be posted on the middle school page of the website.

 

Internet and Social Media Safety Parent Night

LCA will be hosting an “Internet and Social Media Safety Parent Night” on Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in Pate Chapel. This informative meeting will include tips and strategies for helping parents navigate the internet and social media pitfalls that can entrap our students.  Parents of students from elementary, middle, and high school are encouraged to attend. 

 

7th Grade Trip Parent Night

The 7th grade trip parent night is this Tuesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in the LCA Choir room.  One parent of each student planning to go on the trip needs to be in attendance.  Important information about the trip will be shared.  Notaries will be available to notarize documents for the trip.  Please be sure to bring a copy of the front and back of your health insurance card and a picture ID.

 

Marching Band Open Practice

Marching Band Color Guard will have open practices on April 10, 12, 17, 19 from 3:20-4:30 and the tryout will be April 24 right after school.  Girls in grades 8-12 are encouraged to tryout. Dance experience is helpful but is not required.  For more information, see Mrs. Eriksen in room 202, or Mr. Seipp in the band room.   

 

LCA Theatre Camp!

We are now taking registrations for the 2018 LCA Summer Theatre Camp. The LCA Theatre Camp will meet for two full weeks and is designed for the novice actor entering grades 2 through 9. The camp is an intensive introduction to acting and theatre for the beginning actor. Our goal is to teach basic acting skills to each child. We will introduce the campers to various aspects of acting and theatre such as improvisation, characterization, comedic acting, costuming, makeup, dramatic acting, set design, lighting, acting for film, stage fighting and many other areas. Each camper will have the opportunity to take part in a camp production where they will memorize lines, characterize, and demonstrate their acting and/or vocal talents. The camp takes place July 16 through the 27 and meets each weekday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please email rsjones2@liberty.edu for an informational / registration brochure or pick one up in the main lobby of LCA. Register soon as space is limited! 

 

Tickets on sale for “OKLAHOMA”

Tickets are now on-sale for the Award Winning LCA Theatre Department’s spring production of OKLAHOMA! Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and children. The show opens on May 17th and will be performed in the spacious and comfortable TOWER THEATRE on the campus of Liberty University. Tickets can be purchased at LCA or online.

 

Elementary Booster-thon

The Booster-thon Fundraiser kicks off on Monday, April 23! The Booster-thon fundraiser is a very important event for the elementary school. Last year we were able to replace and update about 70% of our elementary iPads thanks to our elementary school fundraisers. This year’s funds from Booster-thon will go to replacing and updating the remaining 30% of our elementary iPads.

 

The Kindergarten and 1st grade Fun Run on May 2, will be in the main gym at 9 a.m., 2nd and 3rd grade will be at 10 a.m., and 4th and 5th grade will be at 1 p.m.

Additional information will be coming home in the next 2 weeks on how your student can raise money for this event and earn prizes and classroom rewards!

 

11TH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
