Fine Arts

“And let the beauty and delightfulness and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands.” Psalm 90:17

Our LCA art program offers Art Fundamentals, Art Foundations, Sculpture, Art Expressions and Drawing & Painting I & II. Students work with a variety of art media and develop creative aptitudes and their God-given talents.

Preparation for the LCA Art Show are underway and the event will be held in May.  Many beautiful art works done by the students will be on display in the hallways and art room during that month.  You will certainly want to check them out!

The Band is a beautiful picture of our Christian walk. One instrument is not better than any other. We must watch one director in order to play and perform our best. We as Christians must work together to follow our Director, Jesus Christ.

“Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.” Psalm 147:1

LCA has four choirs that allow students the opportunity to use their talent  in vocal music and continue their instruction in proper techniques of vocal performance. 6th grade choir, 7th & 8th grade combined choir, Senior High Choir (non-auditioned) and Concert Choir (auditioned) present concerts throughout the year that showcase a variety of repertoire including sacred music, standard choral literature and seasonal music.

In the past, LCA choirs have participated in various choral competitions and have received top honors. They have also had the privilege of being the guest choir for A Gaither Christmas Homecoming, and were honored to sing for Gov. Mike Huckabee and actor Stephen Baldwin at the CVA Pastor’s Breakfast. Concert Choir has had the opportunity to sing with Guy Penrod of the Gaither Vocal Band in concert, has appeared in the WSET Sounds of Christmas, sung for the Central Virginia Annual Police Memorial Service, and have ministered in various area churches.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in state-sanctioned choral events through All-District and All-VA Chorus.

The Liberty Christian Academy Fine Arts Department excels in the area of oral communication. Classes are taught in the areas of Public Speaking, Debate, Theater and Acting. The classes are performance based. The students use the skills learned during the lectures and studies to put together graded performances. Many extra-curricular activities are also offered to give students the opportunity to use these skills in a practical setting.

The Bulldog Marching Band at Liberty Christian Academy consists of classes including 6th grade band, 7th grade band, 8th grade band, HS Symphonic Band, and HS Percussion Ensemble.  Afterschool opportunities include the 75 member award-winning marching band, the pep band (basketball season), and the jazz band (after marching season).  There are also small ensemble performance opportunities throughout the year.  There are plenty of opportunities to be involved and I hope you consider being a part of one of these fun groups.

Our students perform and compete at the highest level with consistent “Superior” ratings and numerous 1st place awards.  The band has won numerous 1st place awards over the years and was named “Overall Grand Champion” 6 times over the past 3 years.  Many individual students participate in VBODA All-District and honor band events throughout the area.  Most recently, there were 10 members who placed in the District VI VBODA Honor Bands, with 5 qualifying to audition for Virginia’s elite All-Virginia Band.
